Abstract
376,722. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. DOL•, L. E., 7 bis, Avenue de la Republique, Bagnolet, Seine, France. Jan. 9, 1931, No. 866. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 118 (ii).] In order to leave the hands and feet free for steering and other operations, the levers or switches for operating manoeuvre signals or other devices on vehicles, aeroplanes, and other machines are constructed and arranged so as to be actuated by the knee or calf of the driver or operator. The driver's knee may engage the forked end G of a lever L which is pivoted at A and is adapted to close either pair of contacts D<1>, C<1> or D, C so as to give the requisite turning signal. The fork support T may telescope into the part L, and in doing so may break the ignition circuit. In a modification, Fig. 2, the knee-operated lever L<1> may be swung out of the operative position by turning it about a horizontal pin A. The lever may terminate in a spoon-shaped member instead of a fork, and it may be flexible. If the lever L is rigidly fixed, Fig. 6, the driver's knees operate movable switch elements Ul, U<2> at the head thereof. The elements Ul, U<2> may be placed in a fork for operation by one knee only.
