Abstract
376,651. Alarm pistols. WALTHER, G., Larchenberg, Mehlis, Zella, Thuringia, Germany.-(Assignee of Walther, F., Walther, G., and Walther, E., (trading as Walther, C.) ; Larchenberg, Mehlis, Zella, Thuringia, Germany.) Jan. 9, 1932, No. 688. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1931. [Classes 9 (ii) and 119.] An alarm pistol comprises a rotatable drum 5 formed with radial cartridge-receiving chambers 9a, . . d, and mounted on a journal 21 which is so bored as to establish communication between the chamber opposite the nose 8 of the firing hammer 3 and the bore 22 of the barrel 2. A pawl 13 on the sliding trigger 4 is adapted to engage successively with a number of pins 14 on the drum 5 so that the latter is rotated to bring a fresh cartridge opposite the hammer at each pull of the trigger. The cartridges 20 are fed successively into the chambers from a tubular magazine 15 which is screwed into the metal below the barrel 2. The cartridges are urged towards the chambers by a spring-controlled feed member 18 which, when the last cartridge has been delivered, enters one of the chambers and prevents further rotation of the drum. The trigger 4 is spring controlled and is formed with a rib 11 which, by engaging with a pin 10 on the spring-controlled hammer 3, first depresses and then suddenly releases the latter to fire a cartridge. A pivoted spring-controlled ejector lever 24 is struck by a shoulder 23 of the hammer when the hammer is released on firing. A claw 27, Fig. 3, of the ejector lever engages beneath the rim of the spent cartridge in the uppermost chamber 9d, and ejects it. In an alternative construction, a supplementary passage in the journal 21 establishes communication between the chamber opposite the hammer and a chamber containing a spent cartridge case. This construction utilizes the gases of explosion to perform the ejecting operation.
