Abstract

376,500. Finishing fabrics. PICKARD, F. H., 23, The Avenue, Roundhay, Leeds. July 10, 1931, No. 19833. [Class 42 (i).] Pressing.-A plurality of layers of fabric are simultaneously hot and cold pressed in a flat press, the layers being separated by sheets of press paper &c. suspended between the press plates. As shown, the top and bottom plates 1, 2 and the adjacent inner plates 3 are heated by steam &c. and the middle three inner plates 3 are cooled, the adjacent hot and cold inner plates being separated by non-conducting material. One length of fabric 4 is hot pressed in the bottom nip and cold pressed in the next higher nip, and a second length of fabric is similarly treated in the topmost and the next lower nips. The press papers 6 are supported by rods 7.
