Abstract

376,277. Moulding golf clubs. BARRETT, H. G., 557, West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, U.S.A. March 27, 1931, No. 9381. [Class 87 (ii).] A golf-club head, Fig. 1, is formed in a two-part lead mould 32, 33, Figs. 11 and 12. A ball-engaging plate 24, a rear member 29 and bridges 31, all formed of a phenol condensation product of the type which will harden without pressure, are cemented together and to a cork core 14, and are introduced into the mould together with a metal sole plate 20 and a socket-forming member 45. The head is completed by pouring into the mould in liquid state material of the same type as the ball-engaging plate &c., to form the body 13 of the head. The mould is maintained at a temperature of 110-130‹ C. for three or four days before the club head is removed.
