Abstract

376,029. Barrel &c. tilters. AUSTIN, L. M., Oldbury Road, Greets Green, West Bromwich. July 18, 1931, No. 20576. [Class 21.] A stand for barrels, drums, &c. comprises two side frames a, b, c, Fig. 1, connected by cross-bars e, f, g, of which the last is adjustable, and a frame j, l, pivoted to the members a and adjustable to various angular positions by means of a cross-piece o carrying a handle p and pawls q engaging holes in the members c. In an alternative shown in Fig. 5, a pivoted angle-strip r engages notches in themembers c. In another alternative a transverse spindle may carry pinions meshing with segmental rack teeth on the free edges of the vertical flanges of the member c, the spindle being rotated by hand or through a ratchet and pawl, a pawl being employed to retain the pivoted frame in desired position. In other alternatives a screw toggle, hydraulic or other jack may be arranged between cross-members on the frame. The barrel &c. may stand on end and may be held by an adjustable chain &c. A drip tray may be adjustably fitted to the forwardly projecting part of the tilter.
