Abstract
375,772. Fusible cut-outs. SAPORTA, A., 6, Via Gesu, Milan, Italy. Dec. 24, 1930, No. 38947. Convention date, Dec. 26, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 38 (i).] A fuse 3, Fig. 1, is arranged in parallel with two circuits one containing an electromagnet 1 and the other a resistance 13. The magnet operates an armature 21 when the fuse blows releasing a drop plate which gives a signal by mechanical or electrical means and releases a plunger 10, allowing the spring 9 to move a bridging strip 7 from a contact 4 in the magnet circuit into engagement with a contact 16 so that when a switch 17 is closed by hand the circuit is closed through the resistance 13, maintaining a reduced supply. The fuse may be a cartridge 34, Fig. 4, having several fuse wires all connected to a cap 37a, and to separate contacts 38 so that they can be brought into circuit in succession by turning the cartridge. The wires are housed in tapered perforated channels open at the bottom. The cartridge may be mounted in a plug body 43, Fig. 10, with a screw contact 44 with a spring connection 52 and a stud 49 with a direct contact 50. The cartridge may be round so as to be turned by a knob 68, or square, being withdrawn to turn it when a new fuse is required.
