Abstract
375,729. Magnetos. BOSCH AKT.- GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Feb. 6, 1932, No. 3585. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1931. [Class 35.] The rotary magnet 1, stationary armature 9 and interrupter of an ignition magneto are contained in a compartment completely separated from the distributer compartment by a wall 11, the interrupter cam 40 being mounted on the distributer shaft 12. The object is to prevent ozone or carbon dust from the distributer reaching the interrupter. The shaft is packed in the wall 11 by felt rings 6. The distributer shaft 12 is hollow and through it passes a pin 19 connected at one end with the distributer finger 21, the other end bearing against a leaf spring 22 connected to one end of the high tension winding 8. The supporting plate 23 of the interrupter is secured to a collar 24 which can rotate in a bearing ring 25 on the wall 11. The plate carries a stationary contact and a rocking lever 27 carrying the movable contact 28. The plate has two slots 30 through which pass screws 31 screwed into the bearing ring 25. Adjustment of the plate is effected by a plate lever 35 connected to a handle 36 through a shaft 37. The plate lever 35 has a slot 50 through which passes the shaft 7 and a slot 38 in which engages a pin 39 on the interrupter plate. The conductor 32 connecting the condenser 29 to the terminal 33 of the moving contact 28 has riveted to it a spring 34 which makes contact with the screw 31 in the fully retarded ignition position and so short-circuits the magneto. The cam 40 is lubricated by a pad 41 carried by a spring 42. The stationary contact of the interrupter is mounted in a holder 47 which can be adjusted within a channel formed by bent over flaps 44, 45 at the top of the plate 23. The flap 45 in conjunction with the terminal 49 of the coil forms a safety spark gap.
