Abstract

375,545. Fire-extinguishers for kinematograph apparatus. PYRENE CO., Ltd. and PERCH, J. H., Great West Road, Brentford, Middlesex. June 22, 1931, No. 18062. [Class 47 (ii).] A fire-extinguishing assembly for use with kinematograph projector installations comprises an upright column or pillar which is fixed in a suitable position near the projector. A fire extinguisher, preferably of the liquid carbon dioxide type, is mounted on the column and the latter acts as a shield or splint for the distribution pipes for the carbon dioxide, which is distributed in liquid form. As shown, the column 2 is tubular. Mounted on it, by means of adjustable clamps, are a gas bottle 7 with its operating mechanism 6, and pressureoperated switches 4, 5 for breaking the circuits of the arc light and the projector driving- motor. The mechanism 6 is of the kind described in Specification 370,057, and is operable by a hand-lever 28 or by a fusible release 29 and cable 30. The gas enters the column 2 by pipes 9, 10 and is delivered to the projector and the switches 4, 5 by pipes 14, 15, 16. These pipes communicate with pipes 11, 12, 13 within the column by way of screwed nipples 23 and plugs 20, 21, 22. The column may be of channel or H-section instead of tubular, and may be telescopic. A spare carbon dioxide bottle 26 is mounted on the column by a clamp 25.
