374,519. Transfers. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Decorative Development, Inc. ; 444, 12th Street, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) March 13, 1931, No. 7819. Drawings to Specification. [Class 100 (ii).] Transfer paper, to which the design can be applied in high-speed offset printing-presses, is provided with a water-soluble and a waterinsoluble coating, the insoluble coating, including in its composition a material adapted to facilitate the drying of the ink. The soluble coating consists of a water solution of gelatine, gum arabic, and glycerine or of starch, gum tragacanth, gum arabic, and glycerine. The insoluble coating is applied over the soluble coating, and consists of a film-forming material, such as pyroxylin, cellulose acetate, or a natural or artificial resin, a plastifier, such as tricresyl phosphate, castor oil, or camphor, a filler to produce a grained surface capable of picking up the ink during printing, e.g. finely ground talc, silica, or magnesia, a drier, e.g. manganese dioxide or cobalt linoleate, and solvents. According to examples, the coating may consist of pyroxylin, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, toluol, tricresyl phosphate, linseed oil, cobalt linoleate, talc, and gum elemi; or cellulose acetate, ethyl acetate, ethyl lactate, toluol, dibutyl phthalate, linseed oil, manganese linoleate, silica, and gum dammar.
