[Class 3 (i).] A moving advertising device, such as a sign, picture, or threedimensional object, is mounted on, and adapted to be operated by, a gas meter. In one form a turntable 13, Fig. 1, is driven from the central shaft 1 of the gas meter 2 through the medium of differential gear-wheels 8, 12, 16. The wheel 8 is loosely mounted on the shaft 1 and is connected thereto by a spiral spring 5 to prevent jolting of the meter mechanism. The turntable spindle 14 passes through a bearing 15 and extends beyond the wheel 16 to rest in a journal 17 fixed on a rod 11 on which the wheels 12 are freely mounted. The wheel 16 is 'pressed against the wheels 12 by a spring 19 which allows the wheels 19, 12 to be disengaged and the turntable 13 to be tilted to any angle. A wing-nut 21 bears on a quadrant 20 mounted on the rod 11 to secure the table 13 in the required position. Fig. 3 shows a' modification in which the meter shaft 34 is eccentric to the turntable spindle 42 and imparts motion thereto by an adjustable crank pin 36 driving a slotted arm 32 on a rotary sleeve 29 geared to the spindle 42. A reciprocating motion may alternatively be imparted to the advertising device from a reciprocating part of the meter mechanism. Where gas is not available, the meter may be supplied with compressed air.
