Abstract

A composition for use as a leather substitute is formed of disintegrated chrome leather 50 parts (by weight), raw rubber 38 parts, reclaimed rubber 5 parts, pure gutta ,5 part, sulphur 1 part, zinc oxide 3 parts, together with colouring matter and an accelerator. The waste leather is carded or disintegrated in a carding machine comprising a toothed drum having working rollers arranged therearound and successively nearer to the drum.
