Abstract
373,061. Fluid-actuated valves. MARONE, A., Santa Vittoria D'Alba, near Bra, Cuneo, Italy. Nov. 6, 1931, No. 30825. [Class 135.] A device for filling liquid into containers comprises means whereby the filling operation is stopped through a low pressure generated in a closed chamber having a movable wall, as soon as the desired level is reached or is about to be reached. Fig. 1 shows an apparatus filling foamy liquids. The valve 4, connected to a steep-pitched screw 6, is held open against a spring 8 by an arm 10 held by the hooked end 12 of a lever 13 hinged at 14, the other end being attached to the movable wall 16 of a suction chamber 17 which communicates by a hose 20 with the outlet 3. The conical portion 31 of the conduit, which is fitted with a wire jetbreaker 24, centres the stream and prevents it touching the sides of the outlet, thereby preventing suction through the hose 20 until the mouth of the outlet 3 is covered by the liquid. When the outlet is covered the wall 16 is drawn in, the lever 10 is released, and the spring 8 closes the valve. In a modification the liquid streams along the walls of the outlet and produces a continuous suction through an orifice connecting the portion 3<1> with the atmosphere. When this orifice is covered by the liquid, suction takes place through the hose 20 and the valve is closed. The movement of the wall 16 can be utilized also for releasing an acoustic or optic signal.
