Abstract
372,898. Subaqueous boring. GRANT W. D., 700, West Georgia Street, Vancouver Canada. March 28, 1931, No. 9509. [Class 85.] Subaqueous boring plant comprises metallic guides 11 mounted on a barge 10 and supported by trussed guys 12, the guides comprising channels 18, Fig. 5, connected by inclined bars and bent T-irons 19 ; plates 16 are fixed to the front of the guides 11 to form a guide for a percussive drill 14, suspended by a cable A built-up metal spud 20 is slidably supported between the guides 11 by cables and at its foot carries a clamp 22, Fig. 7, holding the lower section of a telescopic tube 23 providec at its foot with a manganese steel shoe ; the upper section of the tube 23 is held by a hinged clamp 25, Fig. 8, removably secured to the barge. On the whole length of one side of the guides 11 is fixed an H-bar 32, Fig. 9 forming a guide for a carriage 34 adjustably supported by cables and pivotally supporting a platform 38 for a workman, the platform having means for securing it to the opposite guide.
