Abstract
In an artificial silk spinning-machine, the pipe which carries the spinning nozzles is supplied with spinning solution at several points from a common feeding device. In one construction, a gear wheel pump delivers solution into a conduit which forks into a plurality of branch pipes which open into the spinning pipe at intervals along its length. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a gear wheel pump 1 is connected to a conduit 2, from which conduits 3<1>, 3<2>, 3<3>, &c. lead to a pipe 4 to which the spinning points 7<1>, 7<2>, 7<3>, &c. are attached. The arrangement results in uniformity of supply of the solution to the spinning nozzles. The effect is enhanced by inserting nozzles of graded cross section, adapted to the fall in pressure, at the connecting <PICT:0372710/IV/1> <PICT:0372710/IV/2> <PICT:0372710/IV/3> points between the supply pipe and the spinning pipe or in the connecting pipes 5 for the spinning nozzles. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the pipe 2 passes through the interior of the spinning pipe 4 and communicates therewith by a number of bores 8 spaced along its lower side. The sizes of the orifices at 8 may be graded to compensate for the fall in pressure along the pipe 2.
