[Class 78 (i).] An apparatus for transferring nuts from a trimming and/or polishing machine to further machining 'devices such as a series of tapping machines nl .. n4 comprises a bucket conveyer a which has buckets d adapted to receive the nuts delivered by the trimming machine and is driven intermittently through Geneva mechanism from a chain wheel b on the cam shaft of the trimming machine. The chain of the conveyer passes over wheels f<1> .. f9 and each bucket is pivotally mounted on a stud and is normally urged by a spring i into contact with a second stud k. Each bucket is provided with a depending arm h which coacts with one of a series of stops o<1> .. o<4> to tilt the buckets and discharge the nuts into the hoppers of the tapping machines. The arms h and the corresponding stops o<1> .. o<4>, Fig. 3, are spaced transversely of the direction of travel of the conveyer so that, for example, the first and fifth buckets discharge into hopper n<1>, the second and sixth buckets into hopper n<2>, and so on. If the feed of blanks to any particular machine is not required, a pivoted part p of the corresponding stop member may be swung to an inoperative position out of the path of the bucket arms, the blank in this case being discharged at the position s into a container.
