372,489. Name or number plates. TAYLOR, W. J., 56, Brisbane Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire. March 20, 1931, No. 8585. [Class 3 (ii).] In a sign or number plate formed of triple glass or like compound sheet material comprising three closely united layers a, b, c, the layer a is opaque and has the legend cut through it by sand-blasting or otherwise so that the sign is seen in the daytime by light reflected from the layer b, while the layer c is coloured so that the sign appears in a different colour if viewed by transmitted light. For a vehicle number plate, b may conveniently be opal and c red. In a simple form, the layer b is of celluloid and the layers a and c of enamel. Specification 344,352 is referred to.
