Abstract

372,320. Optical-projection apparatus. HOLDERER, M., 147, Boulevard du Montparnasse, Paris. Jan. 31, 1931, No. 3191. [Classes 97 (i), 97 (ii), and 98 (ii).] Optical-projection apparatus comprises means for moving the transparency and the objective to produce in different planes sharp images of the transparency which are correct to scale in relation to corresponding planes of the original. As shown in Fig. 1, applied more especially to photosculpture, the slide carrier A is connected by the bellows C to the objective holder B mounted on a support D, on which slides a member F connected to the slide carrier A, and which slides on a support 6 and carries an extension 8 provided with the holes 9 and a brake-band 23. An adjustable rod J is pinned at 40 to the support D and at c to a lever M pivoted at d. The slide carrier A is mounted on a plate 52 slidable and clampable on a member F, to which is pinned an adjustable rod 43, the other end of which is pinned to a, lever G pivoted on an axle 10, adjustable either by screw or by insertion into one of the holes 9. A sleeve 9 is movable along the graduated lever G. The levers G. M are simultaneously actuated from a lever Q pivoted at 25, and from the point 26 a cord 45 passes over pulleys 46, 46<1>, 15, 16, 17 to the point 19<1> on the sleeve 19. A cord 47 attached at 13 to the sleeve 19 and passing over the guide pulley 14 carries a counterweight 48. The lever G carries a counterweight 21. A cord 30 fixed at 27 to the lever Q passes over pulleys 32, 32<1>, 32<11> to the point Ho on the sleeve 19. A cord 31 from the same point 27 passes over pulleys 33, 33<1> to the point e on the lever M. The lever, M, G, Q may be provided with counterweights such as 37. Mathematical relationships for determining the positions of the various points of attachment are set out. A modification constructed in accordance with a modified formula is shown in Fig. 2. Means of applying the apparatus to the construction of contour maps from an aerial photograph taken at an inclination to the vertical, and to the projection of kinematograph films, where the screen is moved backwards and forwards, are described.
