Abstract

<PICT:0372107/IV/1> Fabrics to be dyed, bleached, sized, &c. in a circulating bath are wound on a spool 6, which may be in the form of an elastic core of the type described in Specification 289,708, [Class 15 (i), Dyeing &c., Apparatus for], and pressed between two plates 7, 8, the upper of which moves vertically downward by its weight and is held by dogs or pawls 11 mounted on a central cap or hub 9 and engaging a rack 10. The pawls 11 are placed at slightly different levels so that a fresh pawl comes into engagement for a downward movement of the cap of less than the pitch of one tooth.
