Abstract
371,650. Heating liquids by electricity. DENNES, N., White croft, Solihull, near Birmingham, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. May 30, 1931, No. 15887. [Class 39 (iii).] In an electrically heated liquid-containing utensil such as a kettle, coffee pot, or urn, in which the heating element 2 is secured against a wall 1 of the utensil by a pressure plate 3 connected to the wall by bolts 4, the plate 3 is initially convex relatively to the surface of the heating element so that the deformation produced by tightening up the bolts 4 holds the centre of the heating element securely against the wall of the container. The plate 3 is preferably formed of a steel alloy having 15 per cent of carbon, 17À5 to 18À5 per cent of chromium and 7.5 to 8À5 per cent of nickel.
