Abstract

371,283. Pliers. JACKSON, N. W. A., R.R. No. 3, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Oct. 17, 1931, No. 28929. [Class 61 (ii).] The crossed members of a pair of pliers are connected by a rib and groove construction which replaces the usual rivet pivot. The member 11 is formed with an arcuate groove 19 of gradually decreasing width from the end 20 to the end 21, and the member 10 is formed with an arcuate rib 18. The rib and groove are dovetail in cross section and are struck from a common centre disposed between the jaw portions of the member and the rib and groove. The members 10, 11 are assembled by engaging the rib 18 in the groove 19 and an outstruck lug 22 is then provided at the end 21 of the groove to limit the opening of the jaws and to prevent complete separation of the members.
