Abstract

371,180. Bridles. DRURY, P. R., Red Gate, Boyce, Virginia, U.S.A. May 12, 1931, No. 14082. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 62.] In a combined curb and snaffle bridle, a cavesson or noseband 19 which carries a leather pad 22 with a flexible metal insertion and which passes also under the chin is supported by a supplementary head-strap 17 and is connected at either side by buckles to straps 27 attached to the curb-chain 28 which is linked at the centre to the chin portion 21 of the noseband. The straps 27 pass through the bit-rings 14 and through bearing rings 25 on the noseband in the manner shown, so that a strong pull of the reins has the effect of drawing together the noseband and curbchain to close the mouth. As an alternative, the straps 27 may be joined by an integral web portion which may or may not carry a pad with a flexible metal insertion.
