370,144. Tanning hides and skins. WRANGE, G. V., 47, Sveavõgen, and AKTIEBOLAGET FRIBERG'S HÍGVACUUMPUMF, 8, Artillerigatan, both in Stockholm. Feb. 28. 1931, No. 6374. Convention date, March 4, 1930. [Class 76.] In a tanning process in which a vacuum is maintained during the entire process while liquid is circulated through the tank by a pump, the material to be tanned is first heated in the tank to 30-40‹ C., subjected to a high vacuum .and then brought into contact with the tanning solution which has been heated and subjected to a vacuum in another tank. In a suitable arrangement of apparatus tanks I .. IV are arranged in pairs. Each tank has a circulating pump 13, a condenser 2 is common to two tanks and communicates with a vacuum pump, and with a condensate receptacle 7. Valved piping is arranged to allow the transfer of liquid from one tank to another and from a cistern 12 into the first tank.
