Abstract
370,067. Induction motors. FERRANTI, Ltd. and BATT, F. H., Hollinwood, Lancashire. Jan. 9, 1931, No. 835. [Class 35.] In induction electrical apparatus wherein a number of motor or torque-producing elements act on the same rotor, the circulation of eddy currents is restricted to the region of their generation by providing an outer conducting rim b, Fig. 1, and an inner core a of insulating material or metal having a high resistivity. The inner core a may be removed and insulating spokes provided. In a modification, Fig. 4, two annular conducting rings d, e separated by a ring f of insulating material are provided, the inner ring being attached to a central disc a of insulating or highly resistive material. In Fig. 1, eddy-current interaction is prevented between two driving units A, B and a brake magnet D, and in Fig. 4 two driving units A, B act on two separate annuli d, e.
