369,447. Galvanic batteries. PASTRONE, G., 5, Via San Vito, Turin, Italy. April 28, 1931, No. 12522. [Class 53.] In storage batteries having soluble electrodes such as lead-zinc or lead-cadmium, in which the electrolyte is separated from the electrodes when the battery is not in use, the electrolyte is automatically purified during its separation from the electrodes. The battery shown in Figs. 1 and 3 has a casing comprising a main container 1 and an auxiliary container 2, the casing being mounted for oscillation about pivots 5 on a trestle-like support 6. Terminal stops 7, 7a allow it to be turned through an angle of 180‹. At the junction between the portions 1, 2 are arranged a filter 9 and an outlet plug 10. In the rotation from the rest to the working position, the electrolyte passes through the filter 9 which withholds and deposits ; the latter may be removed through the opening for the plug 10. The separation of the electrolyte from the electrodes may also be effected in other ways ; for example an auxiliary container may be provided into which the liquid is forced by air under pressure, and in this case the connecting siphon receives the filtering member.
