[Class 144 (ii).] An inner tube of the kind divided into sections by partitions O is inflated and deflated by means of continuous tubes A<1>, a<1> which communicate. with the sections by valves A<2>,a <2>. Each inflating valve, Fig. 4, comprises a tube 11 within which is fitted a jet 12 enclosed by a rubber sleeve. 13. The latter.is formed with a hard rubber cap 14 in which is fixed a pin 16 guided in a block 15. Air passes into the connected section of the inner tube through the tube 12, under the'sleeve 13, and through holes 17 formed in the block 15. The deflating valves are similar, but the rubber sleeve 13 is omitted and the cap 14 is formed with a soft rubber facing. When the inner tube is fully inflated, the sections can communicate with the deflating tube a<1> through the valves a<2>. In case of a puncture in any section, the corresponding valve a<2> is closed by the superior pressure then existing in the deflating tube, thus preventing collapse of the entire inner tube. The passage of the tubes A<1>, a<1> through the partitions O is rendered airtight by rubber pads B.
