[Class 75 (i).] Striking-back is prevented by constructing the burner so that the speed of flow of the gaseous mixture is always greater than the speed of ignition. The mixing-tube comprises a cylindrical part b of smaller cross-sectional area than the part a and having-a conical end c which forms with the correspondingly-shaped nipple d an annular air inlet e. The cross-sectional area of the latter is stated to be such that the mixture formed in the part b has the same speed of flow as the gas flowing through the nipple d.
