Abstract
367,682. Receptacles and protectors for growing plants. FILMER, R. H., 9, Allen Street, Clerkenwell, London. June 17, 1931, No. 17569. [Class 6 (ii).] In a cardboard box having inturned flaps at the sides thereof with a small hole in the centre of the box between the engaged flaps which enables the box to be used for growing a plant or, in inverted position, as a protector for a plant. Two of the flaps 5 are larger than the other two flaps 6 which are cut away at an incline 14 from the ends of the creases 9 by which they are attached to the sides of the box and have portions 15 projecting from the inclined ends, while the flaps 5 have portions 11 cut out from or in their bodies at an inclination to their outer edges 10 so that when the flaps 6 are pressed down upon the flaps 5, the projecting parts 15 will snap into the spaces or slits 11 in the flaps 5 and retain all the flaps in a plane as nearly as possible at right-angles to the sides of the box or lining. The inclination of the edges 14 and of the edges 11a of the cuts or apertures in the flaps 5 is preferably 45‹. The cuts in the flaps 5 may take the form of slits with which tongues on the edges 14 of the flaps 6 engage.
