Abstract

367,440. Bale-tie fasteners. BRADLEY, D. A., Normandy House, Colney Hatch Lane, Muswell Hill, and COLE & MEAD, Ltd., 42, Wolfington Road, West Norwood, both in London. Nov. 20, 1930, Nos. 35031/30 and 14492/31. [Class 94 (i).] A bale-tie fastener is formed with three parallel slots 51, 52, 53, Fig. 1. Lugs 60, 61, formed of material turned up from the slot, are provided adjacent the slot 51 and the bridge portions 56, 58 are pressed upwards and downwards respectively out of the plane of the blank. In use, one end of the tie is anchored around the bridge 57, the double thickness being accommodated in the depression formed by bending down the bridge 58. The other end is anchored around the bridge 56 and is secured by turning down the lugs 60, 61 upon the double thickness. In a modification the lugs are formed on the edge of the blank. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the bridging pieces are doubled by folding up the material 70 from the slot 71, and the edges of the blank may be channelled at 75, 76, or may be doubled. In another form, Fig. 16, a series of lugs 88-93 are turned to form anchor pieces and keeper lugs.
