[Class 40 (iv).] In a disinfecting and cleansing device for telephone mouthpieces as described in the parent Specification, the barrel or holder 8 for the disinfectant is adapted to be rotated relativelv to the base member 4 by manipulation of the external operating means 14, the wiping device 19 being carried on the exterior of the holder so as to rotate therewith. As shown in Fig. 1, the wiper consists of a number of endless strips 19 of absorbent material passing along grooves on the exterior of the holder and thence into the interior thereof and fed with disinfectant from saturated wadding 9. At its inner end the holder is closed by a pad 12 for wiping the usual perforated disc 20, and at its outer end by a rotatable plate 6 and integral boss 5, both closure members being mounted on and rotatable with a square-sectioned tube 11 on which the operating knob 14 is screwed to form a closure therefor. Liquid disinfectant may be introduced into the holder through the tube before the knob 14 is attached. In addition, either in the rotary barrel device as just described or in a fixed barrel device as described in the parent Specification, the base member may be formed integrally with spring tongues 22, Fig. 3, for readily attaching the device to or detaching it from the mouthpiece, instead of hinging it permanently. Conveniently, the base member may be in the form of a ring 21 fitted with a ball race 23 in which the holder 8 rotates.
