[Class 17 (ii).] Mud guards.-A splash shield for attaching to boots and shoes comprises a flexible shield proper 5, preferably resilient, e.g. of transparent celluloid, one or more pins 8 attached to the shield and adapted to engage with the heel or in the crease between the heel and upper, and an elastic member 11 attached to the shield and adapted to pass around the front of the heel across the instep. The pins 8, preferably, comprise elongations from metallic fittings 6 having bent-over portions passing through holes in the shield. These bent-over portions may hold the ends of the elastic member, which member may be adjustable.
