Abstract

366,657. Horseshoes. GRAY, B. P., 14, Suffolk Street, Birmingham. Dec. 17, 1930, No. 37996. [Class 67.] A wearing pad of rubber or like material which is secured between the shoe and the hoof is provided with a backing plate of metal, celluloid or other suitable material in order to conduct heat away from the frog, the plate being secured independently to the pad or being clamped between the pad and the hoof. In Fig. 3, the plate 4 is secured to the pad 1 by means of spikes 5 pressed out of the plane of the plate, while in Fig. 5, where the plate does not extend to the edge to the pad at the toe, rivets 8 are employed. In Fig. 7, the plate is further reduced and has its edges 10 turned over and embedded in the pad. In a further construction the plate covers the whole of the pad and both are provided with a large central opening and are clamped between the shoe and the hoof.
