Abstract
366,544. Moulding concrete &c. FREYSSINET, E., 28, Rue St. James, Neuilly - sur - Seine, France.-(Assignee of Seailles, J. ; 280, Boulevard Raspail, Paris.) Sept. 3, 1930, No. 26324. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1929. [Class 87 (ii).] Mortar or concrete, saturated with water, is introduced into a mould provided with one or more extensible mandrels of which the volume can be varied by a fluid under pressure, and is first subjected to vibration to settle it, and then compressed by admitting the fluid under pressure to the mandrel. The vibration may be continued or discontinued during the compression. For producing hollow bodies such as posts, pipes, &c. the mandrel A, which may be formed of rigid material such as steel or of wood having an elastic rubber coating, is introduced into the two-part mould B and the intervening space is filled with wet concrete C. The filling may be assisted by vibration. The excess water is evacuated through the joints of the mould, or material D, such as plaster, is placed in the mould to absorb it, or a porous plug E of clay is inserted. Instead of causing the mould to vibrate as a whole, vibratory waves may be transmitted to the fluid in the mandrel A. The mandrel may be placed in any part of the mould or may form the outer surface of the article while the mould forms the inner surface. When high pressures are used the mould may be supported in a press. Specification 181,745, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], is referred to.
