Abstract

366,517. Antihalation layers for photographic films. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Oct. 24, 1930, No. 32019. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1929. [Class 98 (ii).] In preparing films with antihalation layers, the film support is first coated with an intermediate layer, soluble or capable of swelling in water or in the developing bath and a dye or mixture of dyes is applied to this without a binding agent, one of the dyes forming a lacquer-like coating. The intermediate layer may comprise gelatine, an albuminous substance, gum arabic, cherry gum, glucose or a cellulose ether, and may have a dye which does not stain the film, e.g. methyl blue, incorporated therein. The dyestuff applied to the intermediate layer may be aurine or a mixture of aurine and alkali blue.
