[Class 27.] Time-controlled apparatus.-In a coin-freed apparatus for delivering liquids, a vacuum in a chamber 3, Fig. 5, is destroyed by the insertion of a coin, whereupon the liquid is delivered through an ejector until the vacuum has been restored by the ejector action. When the vacuum in the chamber 3 is destroyed a slotted slide 7, connected to ah elastic diaphragm 5, is moved to the right by a spring 9 and releases a member 12 which is normally locked by a pivoted pawl 18<1> engaging the slide. The member 12, having racks on one side, is then raised by pinions 17 on a shaft 18 which is rotated by a handle 44, Fig. 8, on a shaft 40 through gear wheels 52, 51, the member 12 being locked in position by a pawl 19 engaging the slide. A valve 33, Fig. 5, connected to a guide block 29 is then opened by the pressure of liquid in the supply pipe 25 on a diaphragm 28 and liquid flows along a pipe 26 to an ejector 27 and is delivered through a nozzle 34, Fig. 3. During delivery air is drawn out from the chamber 3 through a pipe 35, and the vacuum re-formed, whereupon the slide 7 and member 12 return to their initial positions. The state of the vacuum in the chamber may be observed through a window behind which is a dial actuated by the diaphragm 5. The shaft 40 consists of two sections which are connected by a clutch 43, Fig. 8, comprising members 47, 48, Fig. 10, rotating one within the other. A driving member 49, free to move under gravity within a recess in the member 48, moves downwards and couples the members 47, 48 by a heel 50. By the use of a suitable ejector, gas may be delivered instead of liquid. Coin action, mechanical connection and multiple coin.-The coin 58, Fig. 12, inserted in a slot 60<1>, Fig. 11, rests on a non-rotary screwthreaded member 56, Figs. 8 and 12, which is moved along a shaft 39 when this is rotated by the handle 44 through gear wheels 54, 53, 52, 51. The coin actuates a stem 63 of a spring-loaded valve 64 through a lever 62 and opens the valve so as to allow air to flow along a channel 65 to the chamber 3. The coin is eventually pushed over a lip 59 and rolls down a shoot 60 to a money box 61. The apparatus may be set for different coins by adjusting the cross section of the air discharge pipe 35 by a screw 36. Money boxes or receivers.-In order to remove the money box 61, Fig. 11, a plate 71 is slid across an opening in the top of the box so as to depress a pin 72 and remove a pin 73 from an opening in the bottom of the box. The plate 71 closes the opening in the top of the box and is locked by a pin 74 on the box which engages a hole in the plate and is released by inserting a key in the lock 75. Registering.-Each time the member 12 is raised a lip 85, Fig. 3, thereon engages a lever 83 so as to actuate through levers 82, 81 a lever 77, Fig. 11, which is mounted on a shaft 80 and connected to a counting mechanism 69. The lever 77 is locked by a projection 78 on the pin 72 when the money box 61 is removed.
