[Class 27.] Coin action, mechanicalconnection.-A liquid delivery tank a, Fig. 1, is filled through a pipe d from a source of supply to a level indicated by a float gauge y, the liquid passing through a plug cock f forming the inlet valve. The tank a is discharged through an outlet valve p. A coin inserted through a slot b enters coincident slots h<1>, k', Fig. 6, in discs h, k loose on and fixed to the stem of the plug cock f. An operating handle g is secured to a boss extending upwardly from the loose disc h. The disc k is formed with a cam on its under surface to actuate the outlet valve, and a fixed slotted guard plate v is disposed between the loose disc h and the cam diso k, the slot in the plate v being of progressively increasing widths w, w1, w2. The inserted coin projects through the portion w to couple the discs together so that the disc k rotates with the handle g and opens the inlet valve. At the same time its cam by acting on a roller r on the valve stem g closes the outlet valve p against its seat pl. The coin enters the slotted portion w<1> and drops further through the plate v, thus preventing the handle g with the discs h, k from being returned to their initial position before a full stroke of the handle is made. The coin ultimately drops through the wide slot w<2>. When the tank is full, the handle g is returned, the disc h driving the disc k by a pawl 2 so that the inlet valve is closed and the outlet valve opened. In a modification, Fig. 13, the inlet pipe d opens into a valve box 6 and both the inlet and outlet valves 5, p are controlled by the cam on the diso 17 engaging rollers 9, r on the valve stems 10, g. The handle operated disc 13 has an elongated coin slot or holder 15 coincident with a slot 16 in the cam disc 17, the coin passing through both slots and resting on a stepped slotted support plate 19. The step on the plate 19 prevents the handle being returned before a full stroke has been made.
