Abstract

365,916. Fastening roofing and like sheets. WIDMAN, J., 5702, South Broadway, Los Angeles, U.S.A. May 1, 1931, No. 12886. [Class 89 (i).] Metal roofing sheets 11, Fig. 5, are secured to steelwork 10 by rivets 13, which are fastened to the steelwork by a wire tail 16 fixed to the rivet head by closing over the edges of a groove 15, Figs. 8 and 9, or by twisting the wire around the shank, Fig. 10. The rivets are first fastened to the steelwork, and the sheets laid thereon and hammered so-that the rivet shanks punch their holes. The shanks are preferably tapered, and, a watertight.joint is obtained by riveting the shank over a washer 19.
