Abstract
365,678. Treating hair electrically. TURNER, H. K., 9, Duke Street, Strand, and LANETA PRODUCTS, Ltd., Audrey House, Ely Place, both in London. Nov. 3, 1930, No. 32953. [Class 81 (ii).] A hair-waving device comprises means for clamping strands of hair and imparting a wave thereto, the means being connected with the terminals of an electric battery so that current is caused to pass through the strands of hair when the device is in position. As shown in Fig. 1, each clamping device comprises a wire a hinged on a grooved pin b between the limbs c, c of a bifurcated member integral with a sleeve d. The sleeves d are disposed around the opposite ends of a sleeve e of di-electric material in which is housed a dry battery f, each sleeve d being formed with a tongue g adapted to contact with one pole of the battery f. The limbs c, c of each bifurcated member are of ogee section oppositely disposed, as shown in Fig. 5, their general planes being convergent, the edges of the narrower portion being substantially parallel with one another, and the edges at the wider portion being beaded. At the ends of the bifurcated members remote from the sleeves d, the limbs c, c of each member are united by a bridge-piece h and are bent inwardly to form spring clips j adapted to hold the wires a in the closed position. In a modification, the clamping devices each comprise an elongated U-shaped wire member and a central wire tongue, the mounting being effected by coiling the ends of the members and the tongues around the cylinder containing the dry battery.
