Abstract
365,016. Twisting artificial silk. BRITISH BEMBERG, Ltd., Hazel House, Milk Street, London.-(Assignees of Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. ; Postfach 35, Oberbarmen, Wuppertal, Germany.) July 24, 1931, No. 21214. Convention date, July 24, 1930. Addition to 312,034, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.], and 363,958. [Class 120 (ii).] The process described in Specification 363,958 is modified by twisting artificial silk, which has been treated with liquids while in the form of unlaced skeins, by rapidly rotating the wet skein about a vertical axis and withdrawing the thread in the direction of the vertical axis and simultaneously winding it on a bobbin. Skeins of artificial silk, spun on reels of somewhat smaller circumference than usual and in a somewhat thicker layer, are mounted on reels 1 of variable circumference and subjected to liquid treatments. The reels, with the still moist skeins 2, are mounted on spindles 3 which are arranged in two staggered rows and are driven at high speed by a belt 5. The thread 7 is withdrawn laterally from the skein 2 and led through a fixed guide 6, and is wound on a bobbin 11 driven by a roller 10 by a guide 8 which is reciprocated by a rod 9. Instead of employing two sets of reels, the artificial silk may be spun on a rigid reel on which the skein is subjected to liquid treatments and from which the thread is withdrawn and twisted after mounting on the spindles 3.
