Abstract

364,126. Gun cartridges. BLACKER, L. V. S., 54, Parliament Street, and GOLDMAN, C. S., Salisbury House, both in London. June 27,1930, Nos. 32469/31 and 32470/31. Divided on 364,101. [Classes 9 (i) and 92 (ii).] Completely consumable cartridges 2, more particularly for use in the gun described in Specification 364,101, are connected together by webs 3 to form a belt for feeding the cartridges through the gun. The cartridges may be formed of cordite and made caseless the webs 3 being of the some material, or the charge 2 may be enclosed in a case 8 of combustible or explosive material which may be reinforced by an inflammable or combustible metal, or a wire thereof, the magnesium alloy known as electron being specified. The case may have a slower rate of burning than the remainder of the charge to assist in obturation. The webs 3 are formed integral with the charge 2 or with the envelope thereof. Each cartridge has an ignition cap 6 and a pointed pressure plate 5 for igniting the same embedded in the charge and a passage 4 permits of the use of pneumatic means for firing the charge. The passage 4 may be of venturi-tube form. Bullets 1 of stream-line form are embedded in the charges.
