Abstract

363,468. Bottling. MEADOWCROFT & SON, Ltd., W. and MEADOWCROFT, W., Regent Street, Blackburn. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33103. [Class 125 (ii).] A filling head for a counter-pressure machine comprises a rotary disc valve A, seated in the counter - pressure chamber, formed with a port g which is adapted to make a straight passage with a filling tube G in the bottom of the chamber to prevent frothing, the top of the port being normally closed by a valve H. The valve A is provided with a pipe C leading to a valve c, above the level of liquid in the chamber, the valve A being adapted, by rotation, to put the ports c<1>, c<2> into communication, thus bringing the pressure in the bottle up to that in the chamber, so that on further revolution of the valve A, to bring the ports g, g<1> into line, the weighted valve H will open. In the event of a bottle bursting or making a bad joint with the packing E, both valves H, c will close to prevent loss of liquid and gas.
