Abstract

Relates to a wound dressing of the kind in which an antiseptic gauze compress is mounted on an adhesive plaster and is provided with a layer of metal, particularly silver. According to the invention, the silver is attached to, or formed on, the side of the gauze compress that faces the wound, and the metal is perforated so that the absorbent property of the pad can act through the metallic layer. The gauze pad can also be impregnated or sprayed with the metal in such a way that the layer of silver is discontinuous.
