[Class 52 (i).] Sliding shelves and the like for cupboards, ovens and the like are operated by the opening and closing of the door, which is connected through a lostmotion device to a lazytong system pivotally connected to the cupboard &c. and to the shelf. In the construction shown, a series of lazytong links 6 is pivoted at the rear to a bracket 9 on the rear wall of an oven, and at the front to clips 6 secured to the rear of the sliding oven grid 13. To the rearmost links 8 are secured arms 20, pivotally connected to links 21, the other ends of which are pivoted to a T-member 22 adjustably secured on a rod 23. To the front end of the rod 23 are pivoted links 24, 25, the other ends of which are pivoted in lugs 26, 27 secured respectively to the side of the oven and to the inside of the door 18, the hinges of which are shown at 19. The linkwork is such that movement of the door through a right-angle from the closed position produces no movement of the arms 20, but movement beyond this position causes the arms 20 to expand and retract the lazy tongs 6 to operate the grid 13. To enable the mechanism to be adjusted vertically, vertical rods or the like may be arranged on the back, side, and door of the oven, on which the lugs carrying the pivotal connections may be adjusted.
