Abstract

362,929. Rakes. KUMER, E. SAHLI- and SAHLI, (nee KUMMER), I., Kronau, Zurich, Switzerland. Sept. 3, 1930, No. 26342. [Classes 6 (ii) and 6 (iii).] In rakes of the kind in which the head or tine-bar comprises a metal tube which is pressed towards the abutting end of the handle by means of a clamping device and screw-threaded connecting members arranged on the handle, the clamping device for the tine-bar 4, which is of polygonal cross section, comprises two plates 11, 13 each independent of the other and gripping the tine-bar above and below, the front plate 11 being pressed towards the bar by means of screw-threaded connecting members 2 and the rear plate 13 being inserted between the tine-bar and the abutting end of the handle. The surfaces of the plate 13 are inclined, so that by inserting it as shown or in an inverted position, the rake is adapted for use by an operator of normal or of small stature. The tines 7 have shoulders 8 and screw-threaded portions 9 whereby they are attached to the tine-bar.
