Abstract

362,367. Detachable cycle wheel and gear-case mountings. LAGUESSE, F., 510, Rue Hayeneux, Herstal, near Liege, Belgium. May 21, 1930, No. 20128/31. Convention date, May 21, 1929. Divided on 355,682. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (ii).] In a readily detachable mounting for the back wheel and bevel gear case of motor-cycles &c., the wheel hub 4 and the gear case 9 are mounted upon a tubular double conical shaft 2, which is mounted at its ends in recesses in the fork lugs 3 and is traversed by a readily withdrawable spindle 1. The case 9 is made in two parts and is keyed upon the shaft 2. A positioning-nut 12 is locked by a pin 11, and a nut 13 screws on the end of the shaft 2. In order to prevent rotation of the gear case 9 under the driving torque, it is provided with ribs engaging corresponding ribs on the fork lug 3. To dismount the wheel, the spindle 1 is withdrawn and the shaft 2 disengaged from the fork lugs 3, which have sufficient elasticity for this purpose. Replacement is facilitated by the ribs on the fork lugs 3, and by rear extensions on the lugs, adapted to support and guide the ends of the shaft 2.
