[Class 139.] In a watch chronograph of the type comprising an independent seconds wheel adapted to drive a counter wheel and heart-shaped cams actuated by a detent rocker to reset the seconds and counter wheels, the elements which establish (1) the transmission from the watch movement to the seconds wheel 10 and (2) the transmission from the seconds wheel 10 to the counter wheel 13, consist of gear wheels 21, 17 pivoted on a lever 19 which may be rocked about its pivot 20 to make and break both transmissions without the necessity of zeroizing the seconds and counter wheels. In (2) the gear wheel 17 is rigid with a star wheel 16 actuated by a finger 15 moved by the seconds wheel 10. The pinion 5 on the winding stem is controlled by knob 4 in the usual way, either engaging the crown wheel 6 or being depressed for hand setting. In the present case this axial depression rocks a lever 7 which in turn rocks a lever 23, pivoted at 24, against spring 25 so that lugs on this lever zeroize the hearts 11, 14 on the seconds and counter wheels. When wheel 21, which is constantly driven from the watch movement, is driving seconds wheel 10, the latter through finger 15 is driving the counter wheel 13. If lever 19 is moved in the direction of the arrow by a friction slider on the shoulder portion of the case, wheels 21, 10 and 17, 13 are demeshed. On return of lever 19, wheels 10, 13 resume their motion from the last position. If zeroizing be desired, the transmissions are broken before knob 4 is depressed.
