Abstract

Compositions of the type described in the parent Specification for floating the loading material of submarine cables, comprise a mixture of hydro-caoutchouc with guttapercha, balata, synthetic caoutchouc or bitumen, the materials used in the mixture being freed from albumen. The removal of the albumen may be effected by treating the materials with dilute alkali and subsequently washing out the soluble substances thus formed.
