362,056. Wireless receiving apparatus. SPARKSWITHINGTON CO., Jackson, Michigan, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Scofield, T. J. ; and Miner, W. D. ; of Sparks-Withington Co., Jackson, Michigan, U.S.A.) Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28437. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1929. [Class 40 (v).] In a variable condenser, shown as comprising a ganged series 1, 2, mounted on a shaft 5, each condenser except the first has the stator 2 secured to an anchor plate 13 which has a projecting shelf forming one plate of a trimming condenser. The co-operating plate of the trimmer is separated from the shelf by mica strips 22 and is formed of a spring strip 20 secured to a bracket 21, held to an insulating strip 17 on the mounting of the main condensers. Adjustment is effected by a nut 25 on a screw 15 compressing the spring plate 20 to a greater or less extent. The first condenser has in series an aerial condenser of similar construction mounted on a bracket 31 and provided with an aerial terminal 35 connected to a lower plate resting on an insulating plate 32. The spring plate 37 is adjusted by means of a screw 39 and is connected to the input end of the tuner unit. The tuner unit and an amplifier unit 55 may be connected appropriately by means of a spring clasp 62 on one unit adapted to receive a pin connector 45 attached to the other unit. In the example the tuner unit comprises a number of tuned circuits through which the signal passes before it reaches the untuned amplifier circuits.
