[Class 37.] A rectifier built together with an electric motor to form a single structure is arranged in the path of the motor cooling air. Fig. 1 shows an enclosed motor 1 mounted on a casing 3 containing a dry plate rectifier 2. Cooling air is drawn by a fan 5 through staggered openings 6 in the rectifier plates and is directed over cooling ribs 4 on the motor casing. In a modification, Fig. 2, a rectifier comprises three superposed groups of plates and is located at one end of the motor 12, the plates of the central group being disposed with their longitudinal axes transverse to the longitudinal axes of the outer groups. The cooling air drawn by the fan 17 enters the casing 13, passes through holes 16 in the rectifier plates and enters the motor casing through inlets 18. The rectifier may be arranged in a housing parallel to the axis of the motor casing and connected therewith by a pipe.
