Abstract
361,845. Hopper vehicles. WELCHMAN, W. A., 7, Albert Place, Victoria Road, Kensington, London. Aug. 19, 1930, No. 24845. [Classes 103 (iv) and 108 (i).] In hopper vehicles the body comprises a longitudinally divided floor, the parts of which are adjustable and so mounted that the adjacent edges are moved in a direction to separate them when the floor parts are raised in combination with means to maintain the floor parts in adjusted position. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the floor members 19 are hinged at their outer sides and adapted to be raised to any inclined position, limited by the stops 38, by means of a longitudinal ridge piece 20 adapted to be raised by levers 34 operated by worm gearing 32, 33, shaft 30 and handle 29. The side walls 11 are pivoted at their upper sides and are released at their lower ends to discharge the contents. In a modification suitable for railway. wagons the ridge piece is integral with one of the floor members 19, Fig. 8, which are pivoted at 59 intermediate of their edges and are operated by screw gearing 60. The side doors 11 are operated by any suitable means such as levers and may if desired be entirely removable.
