Abstract

361,411. Cleaning refuse bins. DREWRY, J. S., Kingston, Willian Way, and SHELVOKE & DREWRY, Ltd., Icknield Way, both in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Aug. 21, 1930, No. 24989. [Class 138 (i).] Refuse bins are cleaned by inverting them and subjecting them to the action of jets of water, steam, or air, or a combination of any of such media. As shown, a cleansing box a, which may be of concrete, supports a platform b on which the bins are placed, and clamped in position. Thereupon the platform is inverted and a jet f enters each bin. The jets are supplied with water from wells e connected up to a supply tank h. A steam supply valve i is connected up to a conduit d. The arrangement is such that water is first supplied by the tank to the wells e, the valve i is operated to let in steam and water is forced up the jets into the bins. When the water is exhausted, steam passes into the jets. When the valve is closed, the steam condenses and water is again supplied to the wells. The steam may be replaced by air.
